EnvironmentRecycling Plant TourPrior to the meeting for the exchange of opinions, the plant tourtook place at the Chubu Recycling Plant, in which participantsviewed recycling processes of three different materials ? foamtrays, transparent containers and PET plastic bottles. Inthe process of sorting used trays and containers brought in,there was a good opportunity for participants to deepen theirunderstanding of recycling and of employment of workers withdisabilities. Some participants who took our tour for the firsttime and those taking the tour for the first time in 10 years wereamazed to see the scale of the process and performance of ourworkers with disabilities.Used PET plastic bottles collected from across the countryDate:January24,2014Venue: FPCO Chubu Co. Recycling Center(Wanouchi-cho, Gifu Prefecture)achieves CO 2 emissions reduction of at least 50,000 tons/year. Weemploy workers with disabilities for sorting containers collected. Inrecognition of that, our founder Yasuhiro Komatsu was honoredwith the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star. This is aProcess of sorting used transparent containers, in whichworkers with disabilities are deployedmajor milestone for FP Corporation’s recycling operations. However, we cannot rest on our laurels. Genuine recyclingcirculation is not attained until the collection, as the beginning ofthe process, and the use of recycled eco-products, as the end ofthe process, are both established.Currently, nearly 30% of the foamed trays produced byFP Corporation are collected. Although recycling activities haveexpanded to a nationwide scale, we are still on the way to realizinggenuine recycling circulation. The meeting for exchange of opinions was again organized forthe purpose of building close ties with civic groups with extensiveexperience and knowledge, and of listening to their views on the future.Pellets (recycled materials) produced from the final processof recyclingEnvironmental Efforts20
